Amazon RDS (Relational Database Service) is a managed database service that automates most tasks dealing with databases. This includes managing, configuring, and scaling a relational database.

As of now, Amazon RDS also supports SQL native backup/restore. This with include objects such as tables, indexes, stored procedures, and triggers.  You can store these native backups in Amazon S3.

The backups can be used to migrate a database to another server, for data ingestion, or disaster recovery. They also make it easy to import data and schemas from an on-premise SQL server instance. You may upload backups of your databases to S3 then later restore them to an RDS SQL server. Finally, this feature also supports backup encryption through the AWS Key Management Service.

You can find out more at the documentation. This feature is now available in the following regions US East and West, Europe, Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Mumbai), and South America. Usage is free for this feature; you’ll only be charged regular rates for S3 usage.
