AWS Directory Service: Simplified Trust Configuration

AWS has just made it simpler to create trust relationships between AWS Directory Service for MS Active Directory and your in-house MS Active Directory domains.

Trust relationships require conditional forwarders that answer DNS names queries concerning domain names between the two directories. AWS has made it such that you can now use the Directory Service console to configure these conditional forwarders.

With a working trust relationship between these two directories, you can create a resource domain in your Amazon VPC. This gives you a number of benefits: you can run custom .NET and SQL-server based programs.

For example, your on-premise MS Active Directory can manage or authenticate and provide access for these applications, thereby making it simpler to migrate other directory-aware workloads, or perhaps run new applications that use accounts from the on-premises directory.
