AWS has added new features to its open-source database, AWS Aurora. You can now share snapshot backups with other AWS accounts or make them public.
There are several ways sharing snapshots can be helpful.
You can, for example, transfer data between different environments. You can port over a database from your development to testing, then from testing to production.
You may also share data with your business partners as needed. Or, as in the case of high-profile medical and scientific research projects, share them with the public.
To share a snapshot, you select it in the Relational Database Service (RDS) starting point, select Share Snapshot, then a target to send it to.
