Amazon Relational Database Service keeps getting better and better as more features come into play.
Firstly, the recently-launched Enhanced Monitoring feature provides an in-depth real-time look at the health of your RDS instances. You get a full view of more than 50 system metrics and process data from all instances, with a one second granularity at most.
Other things you can do are visualize the new metrics on the console or migrate them to CloudWatch or other applications. Now you can track your instance performances with greater ease. For more information, visit the Enhance Monitoring documentation.
Additionally, RDS now supports new instance types for AWS GovCloud (US) region. These instance types are R3 and T2.
R3 is designed for applications with high memory requirements, but also costs least per GB of RAM among the EC2 instances. T2, on the other hand, has baseline CPU performance levels but can do bursts of high-performance, depending on CPU credits accumulated during less busy periods.
You can create both instances from the Launch DB instance feature in the AWS Management Console. For more information on how RDS instances can help your enterprise, please contact us at PolarSeven.
