Access VPC Resources with Lambda Functions

As previously announced in October 2015, AWS Lambda functions are now able to access resources within a Virtual Private Cloud. This means that your functions can now access and draw data from your Redshift warehouses, ElastiCache clusters, RDS database instances, and anything else within your VPC.

To enable this, create a new function, then indicate the relevant subnets and security groups in your VPC for Lambda to create an elastic network interface (ENI). You will also need to set up private IP addresses so that the Lambda functions can access these resources.

You can read more about this process at the guide for configuring Lambda functions that access VPC resources. And if you want to create superior Lambda functions for your enterprise, call our cloud specialists today at PolarSeven.
