CloudWatch now supports metrics for EC2 Spot fleets, making it easier to manage, monitor and scale your fleets.
A single Spot fleet can be composed of one or thousands of EC2 instances that turn themselves on and off, depending on the Spot price. They can give you a great amount of compute capacity at a price that you want.
Having entire fleets with different designs and properties may make them difficult to monitor, so AWS has introduced Spot fleet metrics.
Metrics apply across each Spot fleet, for each Availability Zone by the Spot fleet, for each EC2 type used, or by each Availability Zone/instance type combo used.
Some metrics let you monitor the bidding process of Spot fleets. Others let you see the overall status of each instance, or check if you have the distribution right across Availability Zones and/or instance types.
