AWS has raised security for Amazon Relational Database (AWS RDS) by releasing two new features.

Enhanced Monitoring for AWS RDS

AWS has announced earlier that the enhanced monitoring feature will be available for MySQL, MariaDB and Amazon Aurora. Now, it is available for RDS for PostgreSQL instances too.

This provides you a set of 56 system and process metrics for all instances. You can visualize them through the RDS console, or you can use them in CloudWatch or other applications.

Note that enhanced monitoring can incur charges for CloudWatch. More details can be found in the Enhanced Monitoring documentation and CloudWatch Logs pricing.

Enforce SSL

AWS has also given users the ability to enforce SSL connections, thereby making their database instances safer. You can do this through the Parameter Groups page on the RDS Console or through the CLI.
